Yacht Squadron

a formidable history

The Gibson Island Yacht Squadron is open to members of the Gibson Island Club. Facilities include a boathouse with restroom and showers, moorings, slips, and a full service yacht yard. The Gibson Island Yacht Squadron has a formidable history of sailing achievements and a long list of sailing legacies! Throughout its history, the Gibson Island Yacht Squadron has been the sponsor of nationally-recognized regattas, most notably the Gibson Island to New London race, and many prominent sailors started their career at the Yacht Squadron. Members enjoy the camaraderie of fellow sailors in a beautiful boathouse with expansive views of the Chesapeake Bay and the Gibson Island Harbor, one of the most scenic and secure harbors on the Bay. Recreational boating, organized cruises, boating education, and weekly racing both on the Bay and the Magothy River, are all part of the fun! Our popular summer Junior Fleet Program introduces sailing to our young novice sailors and sharpens the skills of our more experienced junior racers. The Yacht Squadron hosts a junior regatta and Junior Fleet racers have the opportunity to compete in many other local regattas.
