The International 210 Fleet at GIYS conducts informal races throughout the year. The fleet is also the organizing authority for the Last Chance Regatta for the U.S. International 210 Class. Gibson Island 210 sailors also compete against the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake, the Maryland Club Yacht Club, and the Tred Avon Yacht Club in team races each year. GIYS organizes three regattas each year as part of the CBYRA High Point Competition. The Cedar Point Race was first run in 1929. The Miller Series for Star boats is in its 78th year. The 2011 Gibson Island Yacht Squadron – Sailing Club of the Chesapeake Spring Race attracted 45 competitors in its first year.
We also hold races on the Spring, Summer and Fall Cruises. See the cruise circulars that are published the week prior to the cruise for more information about cruise races.
Be sure to inquire about our Daysailing program. Members can sail on a first-come first-serve basis on our Ensigns at the Harbor, or the two sunfish at the Point. Contact the Harbor Master’s office for reservations, 410-255-7632.
