Harbor Facilities
The limits of Gibson Island Harbor consists of a line north across the Magothy Narrows, beginning at the most northerly part of Holland Point. The enclosed waters including Red House Cove, constitute Gibson Island Harbor.
Gibson Island Yacht Squadron operates four facilities:
- the Boathouse and its three finger piers at the east end of the Harbor
- the mooring field in Gibson Island Harbor
- Lighthouse Dock slips at the west end of the Harbor
- Red House Cove slips in Red House Cove
- Light House Dock Hoists – 5 tons
Moorings and slips are available on a seasonal, monthly, weekly and daily basis.
The Harbor Master’s office is manned year-round. Contact Captain Denver Sannerby E-mail or phone, 410-255-7632 or by VHF on Channel 78A. Winter hours are 0900 – 1500 Monday through Friday.
Tender Service
Tender service is available May 1 to October 31.
Garbage and refuse receptacles are located at the north end of the parking lot.
GIYS operates a marine sanitation pump-out station on the dinghy float adjacent to north pier, for GIYS members only. Please contact the Harbor Master for usage and reporting procedures.
GIYS facilities are operated by a private club and may be used by non-members by invitation only of a member of GIYS. Guest yachts are subject to the rules and regulations of the Gibson Island Club, and are required to register at the Harbor Master’s office upon arrival.
Day Sailing Program
GIYS maintains an Ensign and two Sunfish for member’s use, first-come first-serve. The Ensign charge is $20 for each session, usually 2-4 hours. The Ensign is on a mooring in the Harbor, and the Sunfish are at the Point. Contact the Harbor Master by E-mail or phone, 410-255-7632 for reservations.
Gibson Island Yacht Yard
