The Gibson Island Yacht Squadron is open to members of the Gibson Island Club.  It provides many opportunities for cruising under power and sail, racing, sailing instruction, and related social activities.   Gibson Island Harbor facilities include a boathouse and showers, moorings, slips, and a full service yacht yard.   Tender service is available from May through October. Tender service hours have been reduced to the following:

Dockage At Boathouse

I would like to remind members during the J-35 Championship event there will be a shortage of dock space from Sept 9-12, 2010. We would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this might cause.

Please check with the harbor staff to see what space is available before coming into the docks.

There will be a cookout for this event held at the boathouse on Thursday evening. The boathouse will be used for check in’s and registration purposes, again we apologize for any inconvenience.

Cedar Point Race – August 21

Muskrat took line honors and won Class A.

The 2010 race once again started and finished at Baltimore Light.    David Nees’ Fitness Resource was first in the multihull division.  A light 5-7 knot northeasterly prompted the race committee to send the fleet around R86 north of Bloody Point. That made for a 24.3 mile course that still qualifies it as a distance race sanctioned by CBYRA for High Point. Read more

Race for the Broom – September 18

The 56th Race for the Broom will be held on September 18th.  The Broom Race is an annual team race with the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake.  It is currently sailed in 210s.   Gibson Island won 3-2 in 2009.    Team Racing practice is planned in late August and early September.   Contact One Design Fleet Captain Terry May for details.
